Welcome! I am so excited to begin our journey together this year! This will be my 18th year teaching at a Christian school. I have had the opportunity to teach science classes to different age levels (grades 5-12) throughout my career, and I feel blessed and grateful for the privilege of teaching at Galloway another year. After graduating from the University of Texas-Austin with a degree in Microbiology, I got an opportunity to work in a research lab at UTMB-Galveston for 2 years. During that time, I completed and obtained a M.S degree from U/H-Clear Lake. I heeded God’s calling to invest my time in teaching, and I attained a teaching certification in Secondary Life Sciences.
My philosophy of education centers on the belief that every child is capable of learning. Children are to be loved, guided and respected. Psalms 139:14 states that His children are “fearfully and wonderfully made”. Education is one of the most important aspects of growth and development in children, which provides them the fundamental tools necessary to move forward in society as confident, knowledgeable citizens. My goal as a teacher is to help my students take action and to provide them with voice, choice and ownership in their learning. I hope to inspire my students to grow and learn by providing them with an engaging, high quality instruction using varied teaching methods that meets their individual needs. I wish to establish a God-honoring classroom where my students feel safe and valued to share their unique ideas and celebrate their achievements.
My husband and I have been blessed with 23 years of marriage and we have two sons, ages 18 and 16. My spare time hobbies include reading, cooking, gardening and painting. I can’t wait to get to see and enjoy my group of students!
