Michelle Pourcio

Welcome to Second Grade! I am Michelle Pourcio and am excited to be back at Galloway teaching ELA/Social Studies. Every student is unique and special in their own way and I believe that is what makes a classroom GREAT! I am looking forward to teaching and seeing you grow, as learners daily.
After graduating from Alvin HS in 1990, I continued my education at ACC and graduated with a General Liberal Arts Degree. I furthered my education at the University of Houston – Clear Lake, graduating in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies. I have been teaching for 16 years and have taught every grade from 1-8th, grade EXCEPT 4th, in Alvin ISD and the Galloway School. In that time, I have taught self-contained, departmentalized ELA/SS, as well as 6th-8th ESL in junior high, AND coached 7thgrade volleyball and track/field.
I have been married for 25 years to my high school sweetheart and we have 2 daughters (Eva,22 & Mary,18). Our oldest daughter has just graduated from McMurry University and lives/works in Abilene, Texas in the health field and our youngest just moved into her dorm at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, where she will be studying Mechanical Engineering. Mike and I spent the last 22 years traveling with our daughters while they played select softball in many different states and they both received Academic/Athletic scholarships to attend their respective Universities.
